STEM Day is a free event for 9th–12th grade high school students interested in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Your students will be inspired by a day of exciting activities while being challenged to explore these passionate areas we know will shape the future.
OBU STEM Day 2026
Explore. Discover. Create.
Oklahoma Baptist University’s STEM Day offers high school students the chance to experience science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a hands-on, engaging environment. Throughout the day, students work alongside OBU faculty and current STEM students as they explore exciting ideas, tackle real-world challenges, and discover how STEM connects to their own interests and future goals.
Upon arrival, students choose a broad interest track, either medicine, engineering/physics, computer science/technology, or forensics. That choice places them into a small group led by an OBU STEM student. They then rotate together through interactive sessions throughout the morning designed to be creative, challenging, and fun.
A key part of OBU STEM Day is helping students discover how mathematics is foundational to every STEM pathway. Every student participates in a math activity. Those sessions are intentionally tied to each interest area track so students begin to understand how math connects directly to medicine, engineering, computer science, and forensics.
STEM related activities have introduced students to topology, cryptography, and map design incorporating math, along with hands-on science activities like virus-spread simulations, fossil excavation, roller coaster design, edible alginate “chameleon eggs,” and chromatography.
STEM sessions have highlighted activities in wound care, ear anatomy, music and sine waves, and exercise physiology. OBU faculty members are deeply committed to creating a truly excellent experience that offers STEM participants opportunities they may not experience in a typical school day.
Sending school sponsors and teachers are welcome to join student groups throughout the morning or enjoy time with other teachers before reconvening with students for lunch and the end-of-day STEM program.
