Biography

Lucas Simmons is an artist and part-time art professor at OBU. Simmons creates paintings that explore the relationships between man, nature and technology. He is interested in narratives that contemplate our interaction with the natural world and how people of faith wrestle with the teleological mandate to steward the earth.

In the classroom, Simmons is primarily focused on traditional technical skills, as well helping students establish a studio practice that will continue to serve them beyond the college experience.

He lives in Shawnee with his wife Stevi, along with their dog and many houseplants.
