The purposes of The Division of Teacher Education program are to prepare the teacher candidate to function as professional teacher and to aid the teacher candidate in developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to assist school children in reaching their potential.
The Teacher Education program at Oklahoma Baptist University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This accreditation covers the Teacher Education Program at Okahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes. Oklahoma ranks ninth in the nation in the number of NBCTs, with 49 of those being OBU graduates.
