Hunt to Perform Senior Flute Recital April 25
April 18, 2011
OBU student Valerie Hunt will perform her senior recital Monday, April 25, at 8:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Hunt, a flutist from Peoria, Ariz., is the daughter of Dwight and Marilyn Hunt. At OBU, Hunt is from the studio of Nancy Stizza-Ortega, adjunct instructor of flute.
She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and MENC. She was a two-time soloist in the annual Concerto-Aria Concert. She served as Kappa Kappa Psi secretary from 2009-11, and OBU Symphonic Band vice-president from 2009-10.
Following graduation, Hunt plans to attend graduate school for flute performance, begin a private studio and teach music.
Her recital will include several pieces by different composers: “Morceau de Concours” written by Gabriel Fauré, “Sonata for Flute and Piano” by Sergei Prokofiev, and “Partita in A Minor,” by J.S. Bach. The recital will conclude with “Grande Polonaise” by Theobald Boehm.
Hunt’s recital will feature Dr. Ron Lewis, professor emeritus of music, who taught piano and served as keyboard chairman for 36 years at OBU before his retirement in 2006.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
