Division of Music to Host ‘Main Event’

Aspiring musicians interested in attending the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts are invited and encouraged to attend Oklahoma Baptist University's Main Event, a preview day hosted by the Division of Music, Feb. 14-15, on the OBU campus.

The event is designed especially for high school juniors and seniors interested in musical studies at OBU. The event provides a special opportunity for future Bison to attend music classes and ensemble rehearsals; listen and participate in faculty/student presentations and panels; audition for music scholarships; and spend the night in campus housing with a current music major.

Oklahoma Baptist University music student Charles Bullard (left), a sophomore from Oklahoma City, studies with Dr. James Vernon, OBU associate professor of music.

One highlight of the Fine Arts Main Event is the annual Concerto-Aria Concert, featuring eight OBU music students who will perform with a full orchestra Monday, Feb. 15. The concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the free performance.

OBU music scholarships are available in amounts from $500-$4,000 annually. For specific audition requirements and more information about the scholarships available, contact the Division of Music at (405) 878-2305 or music@okbu.edu.

The Fine Arts Main Event will begin with registration from 3:15-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, in the Helen Thames Raley Drawing Room in Raley Chapel. For a full schedule, click here.
