New OBU Faculty Member Gives Concert

Dr. Mark McQuade, Oklahoma Baptist University assistant professor of music, will present a recital Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in OBU’s Yarborough Auditorium.

McQuade, who joined the OBU faculty this fall, received his doctorate in vocal pedagogy from the University of Mississippi. He also holds a master of music degree in vocal performance from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

McQuade has won numerous awards and scholarships for singing, including the McCormick Opera Scholarship and Outstanding Graduate Opera Student Award at the University of Mississippi. He plans to continue an active performance schedule while teaching at OBU.

“I feel so blessed to be here teaching at OBU, among such wonderfully generous and talented colleagues,” said McQuade. “The program offers a great deal of musical variety. It encompasses many periods of musical history, four different languages, and runs the gamut of human emotions. I think it will offer something for everyone.”
