Second Annual Conference – February 16-17, 2021
The Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts presents its annual “To Tell the Story Conference” to pastors, staff members and congregants with the desire to enhance the abilities within the church to share the story of the Gospel, particularly within the context of weekly worship services. OBU faculty members, guests and students will offer their talents, knowledge and experiences in hopes of fueling the imaginations of participants, energizing dialogue and providing resources that can be effectively applied to the local church context. The focus of this year’s conference will be the Parables of Jesus.
To Tell the Story; The Parables
When Jesus taught, he most often used story; common images and experiences that conveyed eternal meaning and pointed to the heavenly kingdom. The Parables of Christ continue to provide powerful material for teaching those in our congregations about living godly lives and anticipating the return of Jesus.
The year's guest speaker, Dr. Bobby Kelly, will guide our thoughts as we seek to more effectively incorporate the Parables into our times of corporate worship and discipleship. In addition, students and faculty members of the College of Fine Arts will offer examples of music, drama, art, and video that are intended to stir imaginations for similar ideas in local contexts. Faculty members will also offer sessions to discuss ideas and answer questions in order to facilitate further the use of Parables in our churches so that more will hear and know the Story of our great God.
