Biography

Scot Loyd serves as Assistant Professor of Communication Arts and Debate at Oklahoma Baptist University. Scot also served as lead pastor at Jonesboro Worship Center for five and half -years, where he was primarily responsible for the preaching and teaching of the Bible along with casting vision for the direction of the church. Scot also served as an adjunct professor of Communication Studies at Arkansas State University. Scot is married to his wife of twenty-five years, Candy. Scot has two children, Erin who is sixteen and is an aspiring actress. His son Haden and daughter-in-law Hannah are involved in leading worship and music education.

Scot Loyd has also served as an instructor of communication arts at Louisiana College, in Pineville, LA, where he served as the director of forensics, coaching the award winning Louisiana College Debate Squad to three consecutive top five national finishes. Scot earned his M.A. in Communication Studies, with specific studies in media and health communication, and his B.A. in Speech Communication and Theater from Arkansas State University. Scot has also earned a specialist in community college education degree at ASU. Also at ASU Scot served as a member of the nationally ranked debate squad, winning both team and individual awards in both national and international tournaments, and has hosted several television programs for ASU-TV. Scot is currently pursuing his Ph.D in Heritage Studies at Arkansas State University.

Scot is a dynamic speaker and has also served as the Vice-President of Membership for Toastmasters International local chapter, Confident Allies, and has received numerous awards through this organization including receiving first place in the International Speaking competition for the state of Louisiana. 

Scot has spoken at numerous events both nationally and internationally including: The Arkansas State Communication Association, The International Debate tournament in Madrid, Spain, and the Czech Republic, a Christian Leaders’ conference in Lagos, Nigeria, and to various civic and religious groups across America.

Scot is marred to Candy Loyd and has two children, Haden, his wife Hannah, and Erin.

Scot has also served as an Evangelist and Associate Pastor.
