Dr. Kelsey D’Emilio is the area coordinator of OBU's Choral and Vocal Studies. This fall will be her debut year as the conductor of the Bisonette Glee Club. As a professor of voice, she has a studio made up of majors, minors, and elective students. She also teaches courses such as lyric diction, stage production, vocal technique, and music seminars. Dr. D’Emilio’s teaching philosophy is centered on her students—cultivating growth and encouraging transformation through learning. She believes that the skills learned through music can be applied to any career. Her goal is to equip students to enter their fields with knowledge, confidence, and the skills they need to become leaders in their professions.
Dr. D’Emilio began her career as a professional opera singer, performing in New York City, New Jersey, and with Minnesota Opera. She is still an active freelance artist and can be seen regularly performing on the stages of OBU. Dr. D’Emilio received a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory in 2011, an M.M. in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in 2013, and a D.M.A. in Voice Performance from the University of Oklahoma in 2021.
