Biography

Justin Pierce serves as Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music at Oklahoma Baptist University, where he teaches applied woodwinds, jazz courses, and a contemporary worship ensemble. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra and has led the Justin Pierce Jazz Group for the past ten years, performing contemporary jazz and standards. This year, Justin will complete a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas, where he also earned a Master of Music in Jazz Studies. While at UNT, he served as lead alto saxophonist in the One O'Clock and Two O'Clock Lab Bands. As a freelance woodwind performer, Justin has performed with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Doc Severinsen, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Temptations, The O'Jays, and Wayne Newton. Justin is a performing artist for Conn-Selmer saxophones and clarinets and Vandoren reeds, mouthpieces, and ligatures.

Justin and his wife Ashley reside in Shawnee, Oklahoma with their three children, Justin Jr., Levi, and Madeline. Ashley is the featured vocalist for the Justin Pierce Jazz Group and assists with the OBU Gospel Choir.
