Justin Pierce

Assistant Professor in Instrumental Music


Justin Pierce serves as Assistant Professor of Music at OBU, where he directs the Bison Jazz Orchestra, a 17-piece jazz ensemble, and David's Creed, an 8-piece contemporary Christian ensemble. He is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of North Texas, where he also earned a Master of Jazz Studies degree. While at UNT, he served as lead alto saxophonist in the One O'Clock and Two O'Clock Lab Bands. As a freelance woodwind performer, Justin has performed with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Temptations, The O'Jays, and Wayne Newton. For ten years, Justin has led the Justin Pierce Jazz Group, performing contemporary jazz and standards in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Oklahoma City areas. 

Justin and his wife Ashley are parents to a two-year-old son, Justin Jr., and reside in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Ashley is the featured vocalist for the Justin Pierce Jazz Group and the director of the Discovery Singers in the OBU Preparatory Department.
