Dr. Wells has been teaching Theatre and Communication at the college level since 1991. His most recent professional theatre credit is as Assistant Director/Dramaturg for the 2011 American Stage Theatre Company’s production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf in St. Petersburg, Florida. From 2008-2011 he served Stageworks Theatre in Tampa, Florida in various administrative capacities including Interim Managing Director and Marketing Specialist. During his time in Tampa he also provided marketing, grant writing, box office systems development, and project management for several arts events and projects.
In the educational setting he has directed more than 20 full-length plays including: The Trip to Bountiful, The Diary of Anne Frank, God’s Favorite, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Our Town, The Importance of Being Earnest, Oklahoma, and the 2006 American College Theatre Festival and Paula Vogel play winner, Social Darwinism by Angela Gant. Additionally, he has appeared in Proof as Robert, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Egeus, The Man Who Came to Dinner as Beverly, and toured the one-man Pro-Kids Show throughout the eastern United States.
Dr. Wells served as Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing for Eastern Nazarene College; Associate Professor, Director of Theatre, and Director of Film Studies at Olivet Nazarene University; Executive Director of The Pro-Kids Show; and Director of Children’s Ministry at Lubbock First Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife Laurie have one daughter, Mary-Grace.
