David has worked in the area of technical theatre for the past 20 years in all areas of technical theatre. Five of those years spent here at OBU as Assistant Professor of Theatre and Design Technician
Prior to coming to OBU, he served as the technical director for the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts in Eureka, Ca., from 2006-20012. In this capacity he coordinated all technical aspects of the center, including work with touring theatre productions, rock and roll concerts, and specialty events. Kenworthy also worked as on-site project coordinator for the Arkley Center’s multi-million dollar restoration project.
In addition to his years at the Arkley Center, David’s technical and design experience includes positons with Walt Disney World, Wilson Events, and the Ferndale Repertory Theatre. He has worked alongside such groups as the Beach Boys, Mercy Me, Charlie Daniels, Three Dog Night, Tower of Power and many others. He has also designed sets for shows such as, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Cinderella, Brigadoon, Tartuffe, Annabella in Blue and The Glass Menagerie as well as designed lights for The Nutcracker, multiple dance shows, An Evening with Rumi (an original work), The Homecoming, and Jane Austen’s Emma and many other productions here at OBU and other venues.
