What makes an OBU Fine Arts degree special?

Some students possess talent and demonstrate experience in multiple art forms and are interested in drawing them together in close harmony. The Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts provides a unique opportunity for an interdisciplinary approach that is excellent in both its depth and breadth and guides students to develop and combine their abilities in a program crafted to their unique talents and perspectives.

Students engage with classes, lessons, and performance opportunities in music, visual art, theatre, communication arts, journalism, and mass media while choosing two complementary areas of focus. Options for these areas include: Art, Graphic Design, Journalisms and Mass Communication, Music and Theatre. An individually designed capstone project synthesizes elements from each focus area while demonstrating not only skills in each area, but also a vision for how the artistic media interconnect, relate and enhance one another.

What are OBU grads doing with their Fine Arts degrees?

Students have successfully pursued graduate work, engaged in their careers, or both. News anchors, actors, public relations directors, music teachers, designers, illustrators, worship leaders, and composers have come from OBU’s long legacy of Fine Arts. The Bachelor of Fine Arts, introduced in 2020, is a new expansion of this legacy and we look forward to telling the stories of those who earn this degree.
