Membership Information

Introduction

The Recreation and Wellness Center primarily serves the OBU campus community.  OBU students, OBU employees (and spouses plus dependents), and OBU retired employees with benefits (plus spouses) receive memberships at no charge. 

A limited number of additional memberships are available for purchase.  Individuals who are affiliated with OBU are able to purchase a membership at a discounted rate (e.g. OBU Alumni, Friends of the university, etc.).
 


Family Usage and Age Limit

The center’s equipment and programs are designed primarily for adult use.  Members who are 16 or older may have unaccompanied access to all areas and programs.  Family Members under the age of 16 shall abide by the following policies, designed specifically to encourage families to participate together during non-peak student usage times:

1.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian for all activities.  If parents or guardians are observers, they must be in close proximity.

2.   The following activity areas are available to family members who are under the age of 16 during all Regular and Special open hours:   
- Pool
- Indoor Track
- Racquetball Courts

3.   The following activity areas are only available to family members who are under the age of 16 during Regular weekends hours (Friday -Sunday) and all Special open hours:
- Basketball/Volleyball Courts
- Rock Climbing Wall

4.   Family members under the age of 16 are not permitted in the following activity areas at any time:

Cardio/Strength Area
- Fitness Studio
- Group Fitness
- Water Fitness Classes

5.   Exceptions to these age policies are granted during OBU scheduled group activities (camps, classes special events, group or party rentals, etc.), where additional supervision will be  required of the sponsors or provided by OBU. 

Membership Pricing
The Recreation and Wellness Center primarily serves the OBU campus community. OBU students, OBU employees (and spouses plus dependents), and OBU retired employees with benefits (plus spouses) receive memberships at no charge.  A limited number of memberships are available for purchase as listed below.  A $30 Joining Fee will be charged with each initial purchased membership or for reinstated memberships after a lapse of more than six months.  Please contact the Wellness Services Office for more information:  585-5221

-  “Family” memberships include: member, spouse, and all dependents 24 years of age and under 
-  Joining Fee for each paid membership:  $30        
-  Individuals 55 years of age or older receive $120 discount on 12-month plan, or $60 discount on 6-month plan


Payment Options
Payments may be made in cash, by check, or by credit card, and are accepted in the Wellness Services Office (located in Room 200) Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 12:00 noon, and 1:00 – 5:00 pm.  Please call 585-5221 for more information.

Refund Policy
Full refund credit for purchased memberships will be granted to participants within two weeks of purchase.  Membership refunds requested after this time period will be pro-rated.   The $30 Joining Fee is non-refundable.
 


Steps to Obtain a Membership
1.  Complete an application form (please click here to download)
2.  Return application form to Wellness Services Office by mail or in person.
3.  Your application will be processed, and we will notify you of your membership status.
4.  After that time, you may make membership payments to the Wellness Services Office and receive information regarding an ID card to use the center.  Only adult members will need ID cards.  Family members under the age of 16 will gain admittance to the center with their parent or guardian.
