Fitness Class Instructors
Andrea Beck is a Registered Dietitian and a wellness coach in the Shawnee area. Andrea received her B.S degree in Nutrition Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. She went on to receive her M.S. degree in Nutrition Science and compete her internship also at UCO. Andrea has always had a passion for stopping the epidemic of diabetes and her goal is to help prevent diabetes so there is less management of the disease. In Andrea’s off time she enjoys baking, playing with her dogs, playing golf and loves it when it is OU football season.
Sarah Blankenship is an OBU student, studying Art and Psychology, which lived in the United Kingdom for 13 years. It was there that she learned Modern Jive with her Dad and younger sister, who both help with teaching the class here on Bison Hill. With roughly two years of dance experience, Sarah and her Father, who is an OBU alumnus, teach an accessible beginner's class that will leave you being able to dance confidently after just one lesson. Her goal is to encourage the community, to embrace dance, while meeting new people, having fun, and keeping active.
Troy Blankenship is a 1992 alumnus of OBU, having graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree. He was active in sport throughout high school varsity and university intermural teams. Troy spent 10 years serving churches in Worship ministry and 13 years serving overseas in various ministry roles. He has traveled to 36 different countries and has lots of stories to tell. He says that dance is a part of most every culture. He started dancing Ceroc Modern Jive with his daughters, Sarah and Laura in the UK in April 2012. Since then he has participated in both National and International competitions and was a quarter-finalist in the Welsh National Champs.
Lucky-dip category in 2013. "Dance has become a passion for me and my girls. We love it!" Troy says that, "modern jive is a highly accessible partner dance that provides a fun, aerobic workout in a highly sociable setting." His tag line has become, "NEVER MISS A CHANCE TO DANCE!"
Kylee Goodson graduated from OBU in May 2008 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She remains active with her husband, Clint. She teaches Sunday School to 4- and 5-year-old children at her church.
Lyndsey Lack graduated from OBU with a Bachelor's in Nursing. She worked for three years as a traveling RN in labor and delivery and currently works for the Norman Regional Health System and St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee. Lyndsey has always been very involved with sports and individual fitness. She strives to encourage others to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Activities she enjoys doing include snowboarding, volleyball, hiking, biking, and more.
A native Houstonian, Nancy did her graduate work at the University of Houston. Her three Water Fitness certifications are all at the Master Level: Water Fitness Instructor, Water Fitness Instructor Trainer, and Personal Trainer Aquatics Fitness through the United States Water Fitness Association (USWFA). She also is certified through Cooper's Clinic as Aquatics Fitness Specialist. She developed Water Fitness classes for the curriculum when she taught at Tyler Junior College. Over a time period of more than 20 years, she also taught a variety of conditioning classes at the junior college and university levels. Now retired, over the past 4 years, she has enjoyed teaching classes at RAWC. She emphasizes a holistic approach to helping participants with their individual needs and interests in promoting fitness/wellness. Living in a country setting, she has been involved in dog rescue. In addition her participation in church activities has always been an important part of her life.
Demita graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1991 and immediately married her college sweetheart, Eric Winegardner. She began teaching group fitness classes in the same year because she always "wanted to look like an aerobics instructor". Though initially motivated by vanity, her instructing has turned into a lifelong passion. She strives to make her classes fun, upbeat, and challenging for all fitness levels. When she is not instructing a fitness class, she can be found taking care of her husband and three kids, volunteering with her husband at church, or volunteering at her kid's school.
