Bison Glee Club to Sing Nov. 21

OBU's Bison Glee Club will perform at Twelve Corners Baptist Church in Noble, Okla., on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 10:45 a.m. The community is invited to attend.

Founded in 1938 by Warren M. Angell, former dean of the College of Fine Arts, the Bison Glee Club is a group of the finest male musicians on the OBU campus.Members are selected by audition and represent a number of academic areas of the university. The group performs at many churches, schools and campus events, as well as staging tours throughout the country.

Members of the 2010-11 Bison Glee Club include Rett Adams, a freshman from Oklahoma City; Andrew Barker, a sophomore from Louisburg, Kan.; Jered Bell, a junior from Magnolia, Texas; Corbin Donavan, a freshman from Stillwater, Okla.; Josh Ferguson, a sophomore from Carrollton, Texas; Johnathan Flowers, a junior from Irving, Texas; Kade Goforth, a senior from Tulsa, Okla.; Curtis Headrick, a sophomore from Sayre, Okla.; Andre Jones, a junior from Lawton, Okla.; Michael Juliano, a freshman from Enid, Okla.; Nathan King, a junior from Shawnee, Okla.; Ben Koch, a freshman from Blackwell, Okla.; Brenden Laughlin, a junior from Shawnee; Erick Lind, a freshman from Oklahoma City; Jon Livingston, a junior from Bixby, Okla.; Daniel Martinez, a freshman from Oklahoma City; Sean Muzljakovich, a junior from Bartlesville, Okla.; Miles Noah, a senior from Shawnee; Nick Oxford, a sophomore from Arvada, Colo.; Seth Remling, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho; Jonathan Ruiz, a sophomore from Tulsa; and Ethan Wood, a sophomore from Blanchard, Okla.

The group is directed by Dr. Brent Ballweg, Burton H. Patterson professor of music and director of choral activities at OBU. He earned a bachelor's degree at OBU, a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

In addition to the Bison Glee Club, Ballweg directs the University Chorale. He teaches courses in conducting, choral procedures and choral literature. Previously, he held college and university conducting positions in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona and Missouri. Ensembles under Ballweg's direction have performed as invited honor choirs for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Conference and have toured to Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Mexico and Russia. He remains active as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for various music contests, festivals and workshops across the country.

The Bison Glee Club is accompanied by Nicole Thompson, a senior piano performance major from Ardmore, Okla.
