Art Auction to Benefit The United Way
November 23, 2009Christmas is just around the corner, and Oklahoma Baptist University's Art Club is providing a fabulous opportunity to purchase original works of art for very reasonable prices while supporting The United Way during the Annual Art Auction on Monday, Nov. 30, in the lower Geiger Center. The auction will include drawings, painting, photographs, prints, pottery, stained glass and at least one weaving on the auction block. Viewing begins at 6:30 p.m., with the auction commencing at 7 p.m. Back by popular demand, Dr. David Byland, associate professor of telecommunication, will serve as auctioneer. Students Jackie Dallas, Channing Howard and Reji Smith check out original pieces of artwork during last year's OBU Art Auction. To help facilitate purchases during this busy time of year, the Art Club will provide "ghost bidders" for bidders who see items they would like to purchase but who need to be elsewhere during the auction. The Art Club will use the bulk of the proceeds to pay for art supplies, activities and equipment, with 20 percent of all profits donated to The United Way. Punch and cookies will be served. For more information, contact the OBU Division of Art at (405) 878-2345.
