OBU Theatre Presents ‘Doubt, A Parable’ April 24-27

OBU’s Theatre Department will present “Doubt, A Parable” April 24-27. The premiere will be Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., in Shawnee Hall’s Craig-Dorland Theatre on the OBU campus. Other performances will be presented April 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m., and April 26 and 27 at 2:30 p.m. “Doubt, A Parable” is most appreciated by audience members ages 15 and older.

Tickets are $5 for students and $11 for adults and are available through the OBU Theatre box office, located in Sarkeys Telecommunication Center. The box office is open from Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (405) 585-4350.

In this thought provoking and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects young Father Flynn of impropriety with one of the school’s students.

Doubt is a hard-hitting drama that addresses several serious theological and social issues. It is meant to stimulate thought and conversation. To that end, OBU Theatre will host a talk-back session on Friday, April 25, immediately following the production. The talk-back panelists include Dr. Kevin Hall, Ida Elizabeth and J.W. Hollums Chair of Bible; Dr. Brian Camp, professor of family science; Dr. Andrew Armond, associate professor of English; and Kenneth Chapman, assistant dean of students.

The cast includes Stephen Kerr, a junior theatre major from Moore, Okla., as Father Flynn; Julie Studstill, a junior theatre major from Arlington, Texas, as Sister Aloysius; Taylor Lasseigne, a freshman theatre major from Frisco, Texas, as Sister James; and Natasha Bradley, a sophomore music-worship arts major from Midwest City, Okla., as Mrs. Muller.

The production director is Dr. Jeffery Wells, associate professor of theatre. The technical director is David Kenworthy, with set design by Tony Quintana, makeup design by Olivia Seamans, costume design by Lauren Buss, and lighting design by David Kenworthy. The stage manager is Evan Tansey, with props design by Trevor Rodman. The house manager is Nina Longhofer. Public relations manager is Bethany McWilliams, with Cherish Parker as the box office manager.
