Dr. Ishwaran Mudliar has joined the faculty of the Herschel H. Hobbs College of Theology and Ministry at OBU for the fall 2012 semester. Mudliar is an associate professor of religion in the college.
He earned a bachelor of theology degree from Union Biblical Seminary in Pune, India, and a master of divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. He earned both a master of arts degree and Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Northwest Semitic Languages from Johns Hopkins University.
Mudliar has served as assistant professor of Old Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, since 2005. He served as a visiting professor and preacher Grace Bible College Jamshedpur and North India Institute of Theological Studies in 2009 and the South Asian Institute for Advanced Christian Studies in 2005. He was an instructor in Old Testament at Bethel University/Bethel Seminary of the East in Dresher, Pa., from 2003-05.
His recent publications and presentations include “An Unpublished Fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls” at the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in Nov. 2011 and “The Scriptural Evidence of a Global Flood” at the Southwest Regional Meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society in March 2011. He holds academic memberships with both groups.
Mudliar was ordained as a minister by Valley Baptist Church in Lutherville, Md., in 2000. He has filled various ministerial roles including associate pastor, youth minister, family ministry and outreach and college ministry.
