OBU to Host Women’s Business Competition, Workshops

A series of workshops, “The Women’s Business Development Project,” scheduled in February will teach women entrepreneurs how to set up a business through a business plan competition funded by a Wal-Mart grant awarded to OBU Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

During the course of the workshops, attendees will develop their business plan by March 6 to be critiqued by a panel of judges. Registration deadline is Feb. 6 and may be made online.

The workshop sessions will include:

Feb. 9 – Business Plan Development
Feb. 13 –Marketing Your Business
Feb. 20 – Financing a Small Business
Feb. 27 – Websites for Small Business (in computer lab)

All of the sessions will be from 6:30-8 p.m. in OBU’s Bailey Business Center, room 108.

An awards ceremony is scheduled for March 12. The business plan winner, announced at the ceremony, will receive $500 and a plaque. Second- and third-place winners will receive $200 and $100, respectively.
