Young Presents Bold Lines, Women in Art Show
May 10, 2011
OBU senior Jessica Young is presenting her senior art show on the OBU campus May 6-12, featuring vibrant, abstract paintings with bold lines which depict the roles of women through various periods of history.
The art show is displayed in OBU’s art building gallery. The community is invited to view the works.
Young, from Meeker, Okla., said inspiration for her artwork comes from her interest in the roles women have taken or have had thrust upon them throughout history. She said she is also inspired by the artwork of the artists she admires.
“I am a great admirer of classical art by DaVinci and Artemisia Gentileschi,” she said. “I am inspired by the installation pieces by Anne Hamilton and metalwork by Marilyn DaSilva.”
Young said her future plans include attending a grad school in hopes to one day become a college professor.
“I have had so many art professors that I deeply respect and admire,” she said. “I can only hope to one day follow in their footsteps.”
