Professors and administrators from across Bison Hill greeted 234 incoming freshmen during Oklahoma Baptist University’s Super Enrollment Day Saturday, April 2. The new members of the Class of 2015 represent record enrollment, and are up from 202 enrolled this time last year.
“God is blessing OBU, as indicated with the growth in our freshman class,” said OBU President David Whitlock. “These students represent the newest generation of Bison who recognize the value of a Christian liberal arts education as they seek to impact their world. Their enthusiasm and excitement about beginning their college careers brings great energy to Bison Hill, and I look forward to welcoming them as part of the OBU family.”
Super Enrollment Day provides the unique opportunity for incoming students to meet one-on-one with their academic advisors, schedule classes for the fall semester, get their student IDs and parking permits, establish an OBU e-mail account, visit the residence halls, discuss financial aid and meet future classmates all on campus.
“Super Enrollment Day may very well be the only event we conduct during the year that involves practically every department on campus,” said Bruce Perkins, director of OBU Admissions. “I am grateful to each and every person who participated in the planning process and executed the plan in exceptional fashion. It was a wonderful experience for our incoming freshmen and their families. Enrollment for the fall 2011 class is off to a great start!”
The students will return to campus Aug. 20 for new student orientation, a tradition called “Welcome Week” on Bison Hill.
“I love OBU!” said Janette King, an incoming freshman from Guymon, Okla., who participated in the Super Enrollment Day. “Everyone is friendly and welcoming to all who step on campus. I cannot wait for August to find out what God has in store for me.”
The next on-campus OBU enrollment days are Friday, May 20, and Friday, June 24. For more information, contact Admissions at www.okbu.edu/admissions or (800) 654-3285.
