OBU music students Kate Davenport and Stephanie Marchbanks will present a cello and vocal recital Tuesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. in Raley Chapel’s Yarborough Auditorium. The community is invited to attend.
The recital will begin with the cello performance by Davenport, including works by Matteson, Bach and Fauré. Following will be a vocal performance by Marchbanks featuring works by Handel, Willibald von Gluck and Schumann.
Following a brief intermission, Davenport will perform works by Giordani, Summer and Shostakovich. Marchbanks will perform pieces by Barber, Duke and Chabrier. The students will perform “How Great Thou Art,” arranged by Dr. Louima Lilite. Marchbanks will conclude the recital with a piece by Chabrier.
Davenport, a cellist, is a senior music major from Oklahoma City. She is the daughter of Barbara Patterson, and she is from the studio of Philipp Gulidov, adjunct instructor of cello at OBU.
She has been named to the President’s Honor Roll while a student at OBU. She is the wife of Ryan Davenport from Roswell, N.M.
Marchbanks, a soprano, is a junior vocal music education major from Overland Park, Kan. She is the daughter of Noel and Lisa Marchbanks, and she is from the studio of Lilite, assistant professor of music at OBU.
During her time on Bison Hill, she has been named to the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll, and she has received music, endowed and academic scholarships. She is a member of Bisonettes, University Chorale, Sigma Alpha Iota, Kappa Delta Pi and MENC.
