OBU student Sara Elliott will perform her senior recital Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Elliott, a trumpet player from Bartlesville, Okla., is the daughter of Randall and Debbie Elliott. She is from the studio of Dr. Kevin Pruiett, associate professor of music and coordinator of instrumental music at OBU.
Elliott served as the vice president of Kappa Kappa Psi in 2008-09 and currently holds the position of chaplain for the organization. She also participates with Salvation Army bands regularly. After graduation, she plans to either teach or attend graduate school.
Her recital will begin with “Concerto for Trumpet” by Johann Nepomuk Hummel. “Intrada” by Arthur Honegger and “Let the Bright Seraphim” by George Frideric Handel will follow. Elliott’s fourth piece is “Maid of the Mist” by Herbert L. Clarke. Then “Légende” by George Enesco and “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson will be played. The recital will conclude with Aaron Copland’s “At the River.”
Elliott will be accompanied by Dr. Ron Lewis on piano throughout the recital. Lewis, professor emeritus of music, taught piano and served as keyboard chairman for 36 years at OBU before his retirement in 2006.
She also will be assisted by Dr. Pruiett and OBU students Kade Goforth on trumpet and Melissa Argo, soprano.
The audience is invited to a joint reception in Raley Chapel, Room 142, immediately following an 8:30 p.m. recital by OBU senior Valerie Hunt.
