OBU student Emily Rowland will perform her senior recital Friday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Rowland, a pianist, is from Bartlett, Tenn. The daughter of James and Patricia Rowland, she is from the studio of Dr. Michael Dean, assistant professor of music.
She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda and Sigma Alpha Iota, where she serves as service chair. After graduation, she plans to obtain her master’s degree and doctorate and teach at the collegiate level.
The recital will include several pieces by different composers: “Prelude and Fugue in G-sharp Minor,” by J.S. Bach; “Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 31, No. 3,” by Ludwig van Beethoven; “Etude in E Minor, Op. 25, No. 5,” by Frédéric Chopin; and “Grand Etude de Paganini No. 3,” by Franz Liszt.
The recital will conclude with “Oiseaux tristes” and “La vallée des cloches” from “Miroirs” by Maurice Ravel, and “Suggestion diabolique, Op. 4, No. 4,” by Sergei Prokofiev.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
