OBU student Elizabeth Polston will perform her senior recital Monday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. The community is invited to attend.
Polston, a flutist, is from Broken Arrow, Okla. The daughter of Charlie and Angela Polston, she is from the studio of Nancy Stizza-Ortega, instructor of flute at OBU.
Polston is a member of OBU’s Symphonic Band, Kappa Kappa Psi, Kappa Delta Pi and MENC (The National Association for Music Education). She has served as secretary of MENC and treasurer of Kappa Kappa Psi. During her time on Bison Hill, Polston was named to the President’s Honor Roll and the Dean’s Honor Roll. After graduation, she plans to teach general music at an elementary school.
Her recital will begin with “Concerto No. 2 in D Major” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. “Andante et Scherzo” by Louis Ganne will follow. Polston’s third piece is “Suite for Flute and Piano” by Charles-Marie Widor. The recital will conclude with “Be Thou My Vision,” a traditional hymn.
Polston will be accompanied by Dr. Ron Lewis on piano throughout the recital. Lewis, professor emeritus of music, taught piano and served as keyboard chairman for 36 years at OBU before his retirement in 2006.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
