OBU Offers Events for Students and Youth Ministers
March 14, 2011
Youth ministers across Oklahoma are invited to an April 2 seminar with Dr. Scott Pace during OBU's Spring Preview Day. The seminar, "Worldview in the Pew," is designed for ministers to learn and fellowship while students from their youth groups learn more about the university.
"We are combining two unique events for Oklahoma Baptists," said Bruce Perkins, OBU director of admissions. "Spring Preview Day is one of our major campus events, and we want youth ministers to take advantage of two events in one trip to Shawnee.
"Dr. Pace is an outstanding teacher with a long history of fruitful ministry with students," Perkins said. "The seminar will give youth ministers the chance to sharpen their skills in helping students craft a biblical worldview."
Pace, OBU's Huitt assistant professor of applied ministry, joined the university faculty in January 2010. He is a popular preacher and conference leader.
"The key to impacting today's students is to engage, not entertain," Pace said. "But this takes some specific tools unique to this generation. Spring Preview Day will assist youth leaders to influence more students with greater impact."
Preview Day is designed for students in grades 10-12. The free event will begin with registration at 1 p.m. in OBU's Raley Chapel. The afternoon includes campus tours, visits with professors and current students, and learning about financial aid and scholarships. To register for Preview Day click here.
The youth ministers' seminar will begin at 2:15 p.m. in OBU's Geiger Center, following an opening session with students in Raley Chapel at 1:30 p.m. To register for "Worldview in the Pew" click here.
The events will conclude at 5:30 p.m.
