Bacher, Stephens, Streck, Wasik to Perform Recital

OBU students David Bacher, Sarah Stephens, Ashlynn Streck and Tabitha Wasik will perform their sophomore recital Tuesday, March 8, at 8:30 p.m. in Yarborough Auditorium in Raley Chapel on the OBU campus. They will be assisted on piano by Dr. Keith Whitmore and Dr. Ron Lewis. The community is invited to attend.
Bacher, a trumpet player, is a music education major from Broken Arrow, Okla. The son of Bruce and Jan Bacher, he is from the studio of Dr. Kevin Pruiett, associate professor of music. He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and the OBU Symphonic Band, and he is the current president of the Bison Jazz Orchestra. After graduation, he plans to go to graduate school.
Stephens, a soprano, is a vocal performance major from Tulsa, Okla. The daughter of Philip and Mary Ann Stephens, she is from the studio of Dr. Jennifer McQuade, assistant professor of music. She has been named to the President's Honor Roll at OBU and has been a finalist in the Oklahoma District of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She is the Chorale historian at OBU and has portrayed Susanna in OBU's recent production of "The Marriage of Figaro." After graduation, she plans to continue her education in graduate studies.
Streck, a mezzo soprano, is a vocal music education major from Hennessey, Okla. The daughter of Tom and Christy Streck, she is from the studio of Dr. Jennifer McQuade. She is an active member of Chorale, Music Educators National Conference and the Campus Activities Board. She is currently the Chorale secretary and portrayed Cherubino in "The Marriage of Figaro." After graduation, she plans to pursue a master's degree in music studies.
Wasik, a saxophone player, is a music education major from Burleson, Texas. The daughter of Greg and Teddy Wasik, she is from the studio of Brandon Brady. She has been named to the President's Honor Roll at OBU and was given the Bison Jazz Orchestra Outstanding Jazz Musician Award. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, the Bison Jazz Orchestra, Phi Eta Sigma and Symphonic Band, where she serves as vice president. After graduation, she wants to become a music educator.
The recital will include works by Franz Schubert, Eugene Bozza, William Bolcom, Darius Milhaud, Richard Strauss, Augustin Savard, Gaetano Donizetti, Ambriose Thomas, Fisher Tull and Paul Creston. The students will alternate performances.
The audience is invited to a reception in Raley Chapel room 142 immediately following the recital.
