OBU's University Chorale will sing at University Baptist Church in Shawnee, Okla., on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 10:45 a.m., under the direction of Dr. Brent Ballweg. The community is invited to attend.
The University Chorale consists of 28 of the finest vocal musicians on the OBU campus. It was organized in 1963 "to present advanced choral literature to the OBU campus and community." Members are selected by audition and represent a number of academic areas of the university. The group performs at many churches, schools and campus events, as well as staging tours throughout the country.

The 2010-11 Chorale includes David Billings, a freshman from Claremore, Okla.; Courtney Bryant, a junior from Moore, Okla.; Erica Daniell, a freshman from Helotes, Texas; Casey Flynt, a senior from Turpin, Okla.; Jaci Graves, a senior from Marland, Okla.; Jonathan Hamrick, a senior from Cedar Crest, N.M.; Andrew Harper, a junior from Olympia, Wash.; Bethany Jackson, a sophomore from Benbrook, Texas; Brenden Laughlin, a junior from Shawnee; Jon Livingston, a junior from Bixby, Okla.; Timothy Livingston, a freshman from Claremore, Okla.; Stephanie Marchbanks, a junior from Overland Park, Kan.; Sara Martin, a freshman from Faxon, Okla.; Sean Muzljakovich, a junior from Bartlesville, Okla.; Lauren Palmer, a junior from Oklahoma City; Micah Reinhart, a senior from Mooreland, Okla.; Bryan Roe, a sophomore from Longview, Texas; Kristen Slocum, a senior from Collinsville, Okla.; Kaitlin Slothower, a freshman from Piedmont, Okla.; Kristina Smith, a junior from Petaluma, Calif.; Greg Spena, a junior from Weatherford, Okla.; Sarah Stephens, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla.; Ashlynn Streck, a sophomore from Hennessey, Okla.; Sarah Thompson, a sophomore from Oklahoma City; Robert Vaughn, a freshman from Oklahoma City; and Michelle Walkup, a sophomore from Weatherford, Okla.
Ballweg serves as Burton H. Patterson professor of music and director of choral activities at OBU. He earned a bachelor's degree at OBU, a master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
In addition to the Chorale, Ballweg directs the Bison Glee Club. He teaches courses in conducting, choral procedures and choral literature. Previously, he held college and university conducting positions in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona and Missouri. Ensembles under Ballweg's direction have performed as invited honor choirs for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Conference and have toured to Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Mexico and Russia. He remains active as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator for various music contests, festivals and workshops across the country.
The group is accompanied by Dr. Keith Whitmore, OBU assistant professor of music and staff accompanist.
