Earthquake Shakes Area

An earthquake shook central Oklahoma at 9:06 a.m. Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. The tremor, measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale, was felt across the OBU campus and throughout the Shawnee area.

No damage has been reported by University Police or Shawnee emergency personnel.
University officials immediately began assessment of campus facilities following the tremor.

Oklahoma City media websites reported that the shaking was felt in an area ranging from Yukon to Tulsa and Stillwater to Lexington, with reports being updated as information is gathered.

OBU is continuing to operate on a normal class schedule, with Chapel slated to begin at 10 a.m. in Raley Chapel.
