OBU student Abigail Chaplin will present her senior recital Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Yarborough Auditorium. The public is invited to attend this free performance.
Chaplin is a pianist from Noble, Okla. Her senior recital partially fulfills the requirements for the bachelor of musical arts degree in piano. She is from the studio of Dr. Carol Ann Bell.
Chaplin is the daughter of Jim and Barbara Chaplin. During her time on Bison Hill, she has been included on the President's Honor Roll and, as part of the Honors Program, prepared her thesis: "Reinventing the Revolution: Romanticism and the Dissolution of Tonality." She also has received the Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) Collegiate Honor Award.
She is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Kappa Lambda, the University Chorale and Consort Rubrica. She has served as president and secretary for SAI. She also has taught a prep program and lectured at the 2010 Concerto-Aria Concert.
Chaplin's recital program will include works by composers from the 1700s through modern day including Beethoven, Bartok, Liszt, Brahms, Chopin and Schonberg.
The audience is invited to a reception in the student lounge following the recital.
