OBU will host live broadcasts of KOCO Channel 5 news during its “On the Road College Tour” Wednesday, Sept. 15, during the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. news casts. The evening anchor team will broadcast from OBU’s historic Oval. News anchors Paul Folger and Jessica Schambach, along with sports director Bob Irzyck, will be at a news desk north of the Oval fountain. Meteorologist Rick Mitchell will provide weather reports from around campus.
OBU was selected as one of five universities across the state to be part of KOCO’s annual college tour, which will also feature Oklahoma City University, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma.
The Wednesday news casts also will feature stories about OBU people and programs, including OBU’s Centennial celebration which continues through the end of 2010.
The event will include a carnival-type setting, with special displays by the tour’s sponsors: Call Okie, Chesapeake Energy, McDonald’s and Love’s Country Stores.
Before they broadcast live from the Oval, the anchors will participate in afternoon question-and-answer sessions for students in Bailey Business Center’s Tulsa Royalties Auditorium.
“We are delighted to welcome KOCO’s team to our campus,” said Marty O’Gwynn, OBU associate vice president for university communications. “This is a great time to be on the campus. Their visit adds to the energy of a new semester.”
Area residents are welcome to participate in the activities on the campus Wednesday afternoon.
