OBU to Host Readings by Oklahoma Poets

OBU's Department of English will host poetry readings by three Oklahoma poets in the coming months. Each reading will be at 6 p.m in OBU's Geiger Center, room 212. The public is encouraged to attend, and signed copies of the poets' volumes will be available for purchase after each reading. Dr. Benjamin Myers Sandra Soli Dr. Abigail Keegan
Dr. Benjamin Myers, associate professor of English at OBU, will read from his book, "Elegy for Trains" on Thursday, Sept. 23. The poems in the book have strong native Oklahoma influences. Myers' poems have been published in several literary journals, and he is the recipient of the 1996 Byline Literary Award for Poetry.
Sandra Soli, author of "What Trees Know" and winner of the Oklahoma Book Award for Poetry, will read on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Her work has earned numerous awards and has been featured on National Public Radio.
Dr. Abigail Keegan, professor of English at Oklahoma City University, will read from her latest book, "Depending on the Weather," on Thursday, Feb. 10. Keegan was honored as a Woody Guthrie Poet for 2008.
