OBU has welcomed Dr. Krista Hands as an assistant professor of mathematics. She will begin teaching with the fall semester which commences Aug. 26.
Hands earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics, graduating summa cum laude, from Southern Nazarene University. She earned a master's degree in mathematics education from the University of Kansas. She earned her doctorate in mathematics from The University of Oklahoma. Her dissertation was titled, "Business Calculus: An exploration of teaching experiences in an unfamiliar course."
She came to OBU from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, where she taught modern geometry, applied calculus, theory of elementary arithmetic and geometry, theory of intermediate algebra and pre-calculus courses. From 2003-07, she taught courses at The University of Oklahoma including business calculus, math for critical thinking and special topics and methods for secondary teachers.
She has served as an adjunct professor in mathematics at Mid-America Christian University, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City Community College and Allen County Community College. She served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas.
