Oklahoma Baptist University's Recreation and Wellness Center will host its second annual Camp RAWC, an opportunity for children ages 6-11 in the Shawnee area to enjoy wellness activities and learn how to make healthy choices during summer break.
"Camp RAWC is a fun-filled two-week wellness adventure," said Amy Riggins, director of the OBU Recreation and Wellness Center. "Campers will learn fun ways to incorporate healthy eating and physical activity into their daily lives. Healthy snacks and nutritional information will be provided each day. Campers will have opportunities to play, swim, climb and be active in a fun and safe way."
In a new format from last summer, Camp RAWC will be offered in four two-week sessions: June 7-18, June 21-July 2, July 5-16 and July 19-30. During each session, Camp RAWC meets Monday-Friday afternoons from 1-5 p.m.
Cost is $80 per session for RAWC members and $120 per session for non-members. Additional sessions cost $60 and $90, respectively. If more than one child in a household attends, additional children are half-off per session. Space is limited to provide a safe camper-counselor ratio.
Each camper will receive a Camp RAWC T-shirt, bag and water bottle. Special prizes will also be awarded during each camp session.
"Camp RAWC strives to provide a positive Christ-like environment for all," Riggins said. "Campers will hopefully leave with a better knowledge of how to develop a lifestyle of wellness."
To register for Camp RAWC, pick up a registration brochure in the lobby of OBU's Recreation and Wellness Center on University Drive, or call Debbie Jack at 585-5221.
