Oklahoma Baptist University Theatre will present an outdoor performance of the Period Styles Acting Showcase on Friday, May 7 at 7 p.m. on the lawn in front of Raley Chapel. Music on the lawn will begin at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event.
The community is encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy the evening. In case of rain, the performance will be moved to Craig-Dorland Theatre in Shawnee Hall.
OBU Theatre students will perform classic Greek and Elizabethan monologues and scenes. Performers include Lacy Hutchinson, a senior from Longview, Texas; Reji Smith, a senior from Grapevine, Texas; Katie Tyner, a senior from Oklahoma City; Ashley Mounts, a junior from Kiefer, Okla.; and Katherine Wortley, a junior from Fort Smith, Ark.
The performances will showcase the work of the "Period Styles" course taught by Dr. Joyce Spivey Aldridge. She has more than 18 years of teaching experience with emphasis in theatre theory, history and performance. In addition to teaching all levels of OBU Theatre courses, Aldridge has served as director, actor, dialect coach, choreographer and faculty mentor on numerous OBU Theatre productions since coming to OBU in 2001.
