Art Students Create Together
April 13, 2010
Three seniors at Oklahoma Baptist University - Bethany Bruce, David Raney and Kaley Dickerson - combined their graphic design abilities into a single art show featured in the on-campus Art Division Gallery through April 15.
OBU is hosting a series of senior art shows throughout the spring semester depicting each artist's favorite pieces in accordance with their chosen theme. The theme of this graphic design show is "Create."
"This is what a designer must do everyday, get an idea and then create," said Raney, a 22-year-old student from Bethel, Okla. "Art has always been a passion of mine that later transitioned into a passion for graphic design."
The exhibit includes a variety of print design pieces each artist created during their time on Bison Hill. The work was inspired by the different experiences each artist has faced on life's journey.
"I've been working on a self-promotional piece that I'm pretty excited about," said Bruce, a 21-year-old student from Webster, Texas. "Self promotion is always hard. It's hard to design for yourself. I keep changing this project, but it keeps improving."
David Raney, an Oklahoma Baptist University senior from Bethel, Okla., is displaying his senior art show in the on-campus Art Division Gallery through April 15.
Dickerson is a senior from Carrollton, Texas.
Following graduation in May, Bruce hopes to get an art education degree and become a teacher. Raney recently accepted a full-time position as the media arts director at Waterloo Road Baptist Church in Edmond, Okla.
