Senior Uses Nature in Art
March 29, 2010
Oklahoma Baptist University senior art major Sarah Taylor uses the elements of nature and various aspects of everyday life to create art for the world to experience. Taylor, a 22-year-old from Midwest City, Okla., is showcasing her artwork in the on-campus Art Division Gallery from March 26-April 4.
OBU is hosting a series of senior art shows throughout the spring semester depicting each artist's favorite pieces in accordance with their chosen theme. Taylor's theme is "Sincerely," which incorporates her journey as an artist throughout her time at OBU.
"I like to play with the relationships between colors," Taylor said. "I also like to apply the discoveries I make in abstract pieces to my realistic pieces."
Most of Taylor's artwork is done with acrylic paint. One central piece in her show is called "Green Eyes," representing her time spent at OBU.
"It's the first piece that has a sense of my personality coming out in the life of the work," Taylor said.
Following graduation in May, Taylor hopes to start submitting her work to various shows and selling her pieces to galleries. She also would like to work as a creative counselor at a summer camp.
