For those in the Shawnee area who enter 2010 full of fresh promises and New Year's resolutions, Oklahoma Baptist University's Recreation and Wellness Center will offer several non-credit wellness education classes starting in January which are suited toward helping fulfill fitness goals. Swimming lessons also will be offered beginning in January.
"Mommy and Me" is designed for mothers to exercise and play in the water with their children ages 6 months to 2 years old. The class will meet on Thursdays from Jan.14-March 4 at 6 p.m. Cost for the course is $10 for Recreation and Wellness Center (RAWC) members and $20 for non-members.

"Women's Weight Loss 101" will teach the safest, most efficient way to lose weight and be healthy. A book is included in the course. The class will meet on Mondays from Jan. 11-March 8 at 7 p.m. Cost for the course is $50 for RAWC members and $100 for non-members.

"Senior Water Aerobics" is designed for all senior adults. The only equipment necessary is a swimsuit. The class will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Jan. 4-Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. Cost for the course is $20 for RAWC members and $40 for non-members.

The RAWC will conduct four swimming lesson sessions beginning in January. The 30-minute lessons will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The cost is $30 per session.
Swimming lesson dates are Jan. 5-21, Feb. 2-18, March 2-25 (excluding March 16 and March 18 due to Spring Break) and April 6-22.
