Several weeks into the fall semester, university students are ready to see their parents again, and parents want to see how their children have spent the past couple of months. Oklahoma Baptist University's Family Day will offer parents, students and siblings a chance to spend quality time together on Bison Hill Saturday, Oct. 25.
"We have planned several activities for the day, but at the same time we are leaving everyone plenty of time to visit apart from scheduled events," said Bobby Canty, OBU's dean of students.
Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Recreation and Wellness Center. Parents and students can meet with professors at 11 a.m., followed by lunch in the Laura Scales Cafeteria.
Family Day not only seeks to provide events for OBU students and their parents, but also for younger siblings, ages 6-12. "Kids' College," an event designed for the younger generation, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A highlight of the day will be the family flag football game from 4-5 p.m. when families will get the chance to face off against one another in fun competition. The event is slated for the intramural fields near the Recreation and Wellness Center.
Campus Activities Board will wrap up Family Day with Freshman Follies at 8 p.m. in Raley Chapel's Potter Auditorium. The annual show features skits and other performances presented by members of the freshmen class.
