Eight OBU Students To Sing With State All-College Choir
Eight Oklahoma Baptist University students were selected for the third annual Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir. The Oklahoma Choral Directors Assocation recently announced the members of the selected state choral group, which will perform Saturday, March 29.

The concert begins at 3:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Norman, Okla. Admission is free and open to the public.

Students from OBU include Claire Clifford, senior, Oklahoma City; Mark Deering, senior, Indianapolis, Ind.; Daniel Evans, senior, Moore, Okla.; Aaron Foshee, junior , Jones, Okla.; Ian Hockett, sophomore, Dallas, Texas; Lindsay Inman, sophomore, Peyton, Colo.; DeSay Judd, senior, Glenn Ellen, Calif. and Kari Mitchell, senior, Shawnee, Okla.

Other Oklahoma colleges or universities represented in the choir include the University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, the University of Tulsa, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Southern Nazarene University and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

The repertoire for the concert covers a wide array of choral styles from German romantic to Irish folk tunes, with two spirituals rounding out the program. Ten selections will be presented by the choir as students begin rehearsal on Friday, March 28 in preparation for the concert.

Guest conductor for the concert will be Dr. William Weinert, professor of conducting and director of choral activities at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

Weinert has conducted throughout Europe and the United States, as well as the Far East. He has served throughout the country as a clinician and an adjudicator and has given conducting master classes in North America, Europe and Asia.

Weinert also will lead a master class on March 28, at 4:15 p.m. at First Christian Church. OBU's Daniel Evans was one of two students selected to conduct in the master class with Weinert and the All-Collegiate choir.
