Rilda Smith, a longtime Shawnee resident, joined Oklahoma Baptist University’s staff this fall as the university counselor.
Prior to moving to Bison Hill, the 1983 OBU graduate worked as a therapist manager and youth and family counselor. In addition, she has been a local business owner, and worked on OBU’s physical plant staff.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and completed a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from OBU in 2003.
The university counselor position is part of OBU’s Student Development Office.
“I am excited about this opportunity to work at OBU in the capacity of university counselor,” she said. “To return to my alma mater and have the opportunity to work with members of this community as they make the changes they desire to make in their lives is like a dream come true.”
