Bison 13th, Lady Bison 25th at Cross Country Finals

Oklahoma Baptist University’s cross country teams didn’t pull off any big upsets Saturday at the national championships in Kenosha, Wisc., as the 10th-ranked men finished 13th while the unranked Lady Bison were 25th.
OBU had no All-Americans this year.
Malone won the men’s championship and Simon Fraser captured the women’s title. SAC women’s champion Wayland Baptist was sixth.
OBU’s Michael Elizondo, who had his best race of the season in winning the regional title, led OBU in 35th place overall and 26th in terms of team points, in 25:36.
Lance Goodwin was 43rd overall in 25:40, followed by Justin Duncan in 92nd at 26:11, Durrell Williams in 135th at 26:32, and Dustin O’Day in 148th at 26:35. Also for the Bison, Cole Tunnell was 223rd at 27:28 and Justin Stroup was 232nd at 27:44.
OBU’s team score on the men’s side was 323.
Becca Murdock was the lead for the Lady Bison, finishing 102nd overall at 19:12. Close behind was Jessica Herbert in 105th in 19:13.
Kayla Lee was 182nd at 19:52, Meredith Gardner was 201st at 20:07, and Melissa Farias was 247th at 20:58 to round out the scoring. OBU had a team score of 619.
Also for the Lady Bison, Stephanie Guilmette was 254th at 21:08 and Tatiana Stoltzfus was 264th at 22:20.
The national individual champions were Aron Rono of Azusa Pacific in 23:52 for the men and APU’s Jaime Canterbury for the women in 17:10.
