Barton Rejoins OBU Student Financial Services
October 15, 2007
Donna Barton has returned to Oklahoma Baptist University to serve as senior student financial services counselor.
An OBU graduate, Barton previously worked in the university’s student financial services office for nine years.
“We are thrilled to have Donna back,” said Jonna Raney, director of OBU’s student financial services. “She brings a lot of experience as well as a deep loyalty to OBU. Her knowledge of the federal regulations will enable her to contribute to the overall goal of our office, which is to help students achieve their dream of an OBU education.”
The student financial services office coordinates institutional and public aid for OBU students. In 2006-07, OBU dispensed $17.8 million in student aid, including $7.86 million in OBU scholarships.
“I am very excited about returning to OBU,” Barton said. “Sometimes it takes getting a way from a situation to really appreciate it, and I am thankful to be given the opportunity to come back.
“I couldn’t believe how much I missed working with the students,” she said. “I like that feeling of helping people achieve their goals. Having attended OBU myself, as well as previously working here, I know what a great group of faculty and staff OBU has.”
Donna’s husband, Stacey Barton, is a teacher and coach at Bethel Schools. They have three daughters.
