New freshmen and transfer students received a crash course in OBU traditions and campus life during Welcome Week, August 18-21 on the University's campus in Shawnee.
The orientation began with new students moving into campus housing with the help of OBU Welcome Week Workers and members of the University's faculty and staff on Saturday morning.
“We always enjoy welcoming new students to our campus and assisting them in the beginning of their college experience,” senior Kristi Zevenbergen said.
After emotional good-byes to their mothers and fathers, new students started their OBU journey. Through small and large group sessions, freshman and transfer students learned about the culture of the University and its emphasis on the integration of faith and learning. They were also encouraged to pursue strong campus involvement and introduced to a variety of campus organizations through Un Cuerpo.
Welcome Week concluded with new students partaking in the symbolic tradition of The Walk, which they will revisit during their commencement walk.
