Exploring Your Call Helps Youth with Ministry Decisions
August 2, 2007
Through the experience of Falls Creek and other summer Christian camps, many young people have made decisions to pursue a future in ministry. Oklahoma Baptist University wants to help the students build on their decisions.
On Saturday, Aug. 25, OBU will host Exploring Your Call, an event for students who have completed seventh through 12th grades and have committed to serve in Christian ministry.
The conference will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in OBUís Montgomery Hall. Registration is at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided.
ďExploring Your Call is designed to help every young person who has responded to Godís call to a vocation in Christian ministry discover and clarify the meaning of their personal call to ministry,Ē said Dale Griffin, OBU campus minister. ďAny young person who has made a recent commitment to a life of ministry will not want to miss this opportunity to participate in the best follow-up one-day event in the state.Ē
Shane Hall, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Clinton, will be the keynote speaker. Davidís Creed, an OBU worship team, will lead in worship.

Parents are encouraged to accompany their students to the event. If a studentís parent cannot attend, a youth minister or adult mentor is encouraged to participate.
Along with assembly meetings, Exploring Your Call will include breakout sessions.
ďThe breakout sessions are designed to give specific information about vocational opportunities in ministry in Oklahoma, across the U.S. and around the world,Ē said Griffin.
Participants in Exploring Your Call also are invited to attend Saturday in the Park, a statewide event focused on college and high school students who desire to bring ďa Christian passion back to their campuses,Ē said Griffin.
Saturday in the Park begins at 4 p.m. in the Quad in front of OBUís Mabee Learning Center and culminates with a worship program in Raley Chapel.
Hall, a 1993 OBU graduate, will be the guest speaker for the event. Musical Performers at Saturday in the Park are Steve Fee, Jason Tompkins Band, Aaron Mowery Chapel Band, Timberline Hike, Go-Go Stereo and Julie Patty.
