University Choral Groups Combine for Charity Concert
May 1, 2007
Oklahoma Baptist University’s Bison Glee Club, Bisonette Glee Club, and The University Chorale will present a joint concert Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m., in Potter Auditorium of OBU’s Raley Chapel. The performance is a benefit concert for Habitat for Humanity.
The concert will feature selections from the groups’ 2006-07 performance season. Two selections will be performed by the combined groups, “Creation Will Be At Peace,” and “Prayer of the Children.”
The Bison Glee Club and the University Chorale are directed by Dr. David DeSeguirant, OBU associate professor of music and director of choral studies. The Bisonette Glee Club is directed by Dr. Darla Eshelman, OBU associate professor of music education.
“It is hoped that the selections will focus the audience’s attention on the need to become involved in efforts such as Habitat’s,” said DeSeguirant. “For a university such as OBU, it seems altogether fitting with our mission that we look outward to broader concerns of our community and world, and provide opportunities for students to contribute to those outside the campus community through an effort such as this.”
Admission is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted for Habitat for Humanity’s Shawnee Chapter.
