Drs. Jennifer and Mark McQuade present a duet recital “Seasons of Love,” at Oklahoma Baptist University Monday, April 30. The 7:30 p.m. recital will be in OBU’s Yarborough Auditorium.
A member of the OBU faculty since last fall, Mark McQuade is an assistant music professor. Jennifer also teaches courses at OBU as an adjunct instructor of music. The recital will include a variety of love songs written over a span of 350 years.
“It is a joy anytime we have the opportunity to sing together. We both share a passion for music and the art of singing, so whenever we have the opportunity to share our gifts with others, we jump at the chance,” said Mark.
“Love has been talked about, written about, and sung about for hundreds and even thousands of years,” he said.
The Seasons of Love recital is an encore presentation of a program the McQuades performed at the University of Central Oklahoma in late March.
Songs featured in the April 30 performance will range from the 17th to 21st century, including pieces written by Purcell, Korngold, Fauré, Lassen, Larsen and Donizetti.
“All of the songs included on this recital combine to take the listener on an emotional journey that explores the many varied aspects of love – from the initial spark, to the deeply committed and passionate, to the light-hearted and whimsical, to the sad and frustrated,” said Mark.
The recital is free and open to the public.
