Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir Features Seven OBU Students

Seven Oklahoma Baptist University students will participate in an Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir performance Saturday, March 31, at 3:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church of Norman.
The choir consists of select students from eight Oklahoma universities. Along with OBU, choir members will represent the University of Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, the University of Tulsa, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
OBU students in the 54-voice choir are Kathryn Anderson, a junior from Harrah, Okla.; Andrew Butler, a senior from Bowling Green, Ky.; Whitni Butler, a sophomore from Sapulpa, Okla.; Heather Davidson, a junior from Shawnee, Okla.; Mark Deering, a senior from Indianapolis, Ind.; Daniel Evans, a freshman from Moore, Okla.; and Jeff Murdock, a freshman from Hobbs, N.M.
Kathy Saltzman Romey will serve as guest clinician for this event. She currently serves as director of choral activities at the University of Minnesota, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting, and directs the Chamber Singers and Women’s Chorus.
The repertoire for the concert covers a wide array of choral styles ranging from Bach to Mendelssohn; from world music to choral jazz. In all, eight selections will be presented by this choir as students will begin rehearsal on Friday in preparation for the concert.
